How To Be Alone is the directorial debut of Stranger Things writer, Kate Trefry and set to premiere at this years SXSW as a Midnight Short selection. The 12 minute horror short follows Maika Monroe (It Follows) as LUCY, a woman whose deepest fears seem to manifest physically when her husband JACK, played by Joe Keery (Stranger Things), leaves for his night shift. The 4WT produced film marks the continuing collaboration with Kate Trefry with her work on Souls of Totality as co-writer with husband, Ben Bolea.

“Connecting with them [talented weirdos] made me realize what I thought was a story about my most secret freaky pregnancy anxiety is actually just how a lot of us feel all the time. So this short film is for the weirdoes: no matter how strange or scared or different you feel, you are not alone. We got you,” Trefry tells IndieWire. Some of those talented weirdos include Trefry’s brother, John Trefry, as producer and her husband as executive producer.

Make sure to catch How To Be Alone if you’re lucky enough to be attending this years SXSW.
